A blend of 60% Tinta Roriz, 25% Touriga Nacional and 15% Touriga Franca aged for 9 months in a combination of new and 1 year old French oak. Opaque dark red black colour with a bright dark red hue. The nose offers up aromas of black cherries and liquorice intermixed with earthy incense like characters followed by peppered meat end notes. Medium to full in body weight with plenty of richness and a rustic chewy feel the palate features flavours of black cherries and liquorice over some earthy incense like characters, a touch of leather and a spicy finish. Solid chewy tannins with a long aftertaste of ripe black cherries, liquorice, subtle earthy leather and spicy dried meats.
Cellar 3-4 years.
Mocha, hot spice and chocolate notes fill this decadent red to the brim. Very long midpalate, with accents of slate and spice. Finishes with smoke, cream and cedar details. An exotic red from Portugal. Drink now through 2019. Ranked No. 27 in Wine Spectator's Top 100 wines of 2014.
