Cellar: 6 - 10 Years (2020-2024)

From the outstanding 2011 vintage this release of Moss Wood is a blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Totally opaque inky black crimson colour showing superb depth with a deep very dark crimson red black tinged hue. The nose displays a riper profile than the Heytesbury with rich blackcurrant, liquorice and black cherry scents dominate over some black olives, cedar and spice. Fuller and richer than the 2011 Vasse Felix Heytesbury Cabernets, which was tasted alongside it, the palate boasts ripe blackcurrant and black cherry flavours followed by a touch of liquorice, some chocolatey cedar, light cigar box and spice. Soft, almost opulent mouthfeel. Magnificent power and richness with velvet smooth perfectly balanced tannins. Very long ripe blackcurrant, liquorice, chocolatey cedar and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 8-10 years (2022-2024).
Alc 13.5%

Other Reviews....
Moss Wood at its best, everything in its right place, perfectly balanced, and speaking of the vineyard, the vintage, the variety and the winemaker with equal conviction. Full purple-crimson; supple blackcurrant fruit is cosseted by superfine, but persistent, tannins and high quality French oak. Drink by 2041.
