2011 Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre Merlot

Produced from 60 year old Merlot vines this wine also contains a 15% Carmenere component. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Aromas of ripe blackcurrant intermixed with dark plum are followed by some cedar, earth and spice. Full bodied with a chewy mouthfeel the palate possesses ripe blackcurrant flavours over some earthy cedar, leather and spice. Dry firm tannin structure which leads to an abrupt finish. Moderate aftertaste of blackcurrant, chewy leather, earthy cedar and spice.
