2011 Bramare by Vina Cobos Lujan de Cuyo Appellation Malbec

Fruit for this wine was sourced north of the Uco Valley in Lujan de Cuyo, home of some of Mendoza's prime Malbec sub districts. Outstanding colour saturation is standard in the Vina Cobos collection, this wine pouring an impressive opaque inky black and offering up a beautifully perfumed nose of violets intermixed with liquorice and black cherries as well as hints of toasty vanillin oak and spice. Swamped by luscious black fruits, the palate delivers big liquorice, blackcurrant and black cherry flavours followed by some vanillin oak and spice. The wine's outstanding concentration and richness are enhanced by succulent textural qualities and solid yet svelte-like tannins. Very long ripe blackcurrant, dark chocolate, liquorice and spicy vanillin oak aftertaste. Amazing fruit purity and staying power. Extraordinary Malbec.
