The Yalumba Signature is the perfect expression of an ‘Australian blend’ using two classic grape varieties: Cabernet and Shiraz. In the Old World, these two complimentary grapes would never have met (not legally anyhow), whereas in Australia, in the absence of appellation laws, the blend was all go with no holds barred. The Signature has another notable attribute in that from a corporate perspective, it represents a 'living' acknowledgement to the contribution made to the well being of a company by its employees.

‘A Classically Structured Yalumba Signature of Great Richness & Depth’

Those honoured with a release of Signature have not only been winemakers and viticulturalists, but general managers and key company account executives, recognising that wine production is a team business. The first Signature was released in 1962 - many a man can grow grapes, but few can maintain consistency of quality over the years, as well as maintaining the integrity of the brand. From the outstanding 2010 vintage this release of Signature is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Shiraz. Maturation took place in a combination of 35% new French Hogshead and Barriques with the balance in 2, 3 and 4 year old French, Hungarian and American Hogsheads for a period of 20 months.

Outstanding inky black dark purple colour showing superb saturation with a deep dark purple black tinged hue. Perfumed top notes of ripe blackcurrant and liquorice merge and intermingle with some violet overtones followed by some dark chocolate, subtle vanillin oak and spice. The palate is rich, full bodied and concentrated yet deftly balances those attributes against a refined structured mouthfeel. Ripe blackcurrant, liquorice and subtle dark chocolate flavours flood the mouth with some underlying toasty cedar and spice also present. A sturdy super fine grained tannin structure holds all the components in place perfectly. Outstanding depth with very long ripe blackcurrant, dark chocolate, blackberry and spicy cedar aftertaste.
