La Croix de Beaucaillou was born out of a total rethink of the wine on offer at Ducru Beaucaillou. With tremendous success, Bruno Borie has reduced the production of the grand vin by 50% in recent years. La Croix de Beaucaillou was to be the 2nd wine incorporating young vines of the estate. However, in a bid to emulate what has been achieved by the likes of the Carruades and Les Forts de Latour in becoming standalone wines, the focus has shifted since 2005 and La Croix de Beaucaillou is now a single vineyard wine, from a block adjacent to those of Branaire Ducru and Gloria.

Opaque black crimson red colour with crimson red purple hue. Nosing reveals a bouquet of blackcurrant alongside some black cherries with underlying cedar, light tobacco and earth scents. Medium bodied with plenty of grace and elegance the palate has a softly textured flavour profile of blackcurrant, dark mulberry and subtle liquorice with delicate earth, cedar and spice characteristics on the back palate. Very fine grained tannins. Long elegant blackcurrant, cedar, subtle earth and spice aftertaste. The daughter of Mick Jagger, Jade, designed the flashy label.
Cellar 5-6 years (2019-2020).
Alc 14.0%

Other Reviews...
I love the aromas of minerals, flowers, blackberries and blueberries. Full body with a fabulous texture of polished and integrated tannins. It goes on for minutes. Spicy, subtle fruit and a long and marvelous finish. Currant bush undertones. A whole and beautiful wine. The second wine of Ducru-Beaucaillou. Drink or hold."
