2010 Cornelius Syrah

This wine spent 6 months in 100% new French oak barriques and then a further 12 months in 2-3 year old barriques. Totally opaque inky black core with a crimson red black hue. Fragrant aromas of liquorice, plum and fennel are followed by some meaty dried herb characters with a smoky overlay and some pepper end notes. Rich, supple yet elegant the medium bodied palate features flavours of plum, liquorice and fennel followed by some smoky dried meat characters and pepper. Velvet smooth tannins. Dryish finish. Medium to long aftertaste of smoky fennel, plum, liquorice and peppered dried meats.
Cellar 5-6 years.
