- ABV 13%
- Closure: Cork
Pours well with a lacy white mousse sitting over a straw, golden edged base wine that has an exceptionally fine and very persistent bead. Pronounced, the nose exhibits rich aromatics of baked bread and oily toast like aromatics that meld into hints of dried honey, yeast lees and a hint of citrus. Toasty and rich yet still very fresh the mouth is filled with toasty honey like characters, oily baked bread, yeast lees and a refreshing burst of lemon citrus on the dry crisp finish. A slightly oily mouthfeel counterpointed by the fresh citrus infusions. Aftertaste of toasted honey, oily baked bread, yeast lees and citrus.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Chardonnay was where it all began for Clover Hill, and there is a tension and definition to this grape that defines the estate's longest-lived wines to this day. At 6yo, this cuvee upholds a bright, medium straw hue. There's intensity of grapefruit, lemon butter and even the exuberance of star fruit, amidst the toast and burnt butter of bottle age. In creamy texture, mouth filling intensity and undeviating line and length, this is a grand release for Clover Hill, with plenty of energy still coiled into its folds. Drink by 2022.
