Located in the Left Bank Bordeaux commune of Saint-Estèphe, Chateau Clauzet is a relatively unknown estate with some serious credentials. Its vineyard neighbours are Cos d’Estournel, and wine maker José Bueno worked for 23 years with Baron Philippe de Rothschild as master blender for Chateau Clerc Milon and Chateau d’Armailhac. Vineyard holdings are small for Bordeaux with production around 9,000 cases per year. A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc, this is a classic wine from the superb 2010 vintage.

Opaque black dark red colour with a dark crimson red hue. Perfumed aromas of blackcurrant and ripe dark cherries are intermixed with a hint of liquorice followed by some delicate cigar box like characters, tobacco and spice. The palate possesses excellent richness with a savoury medium bodied personality featuring ripe blackcurrant and dark cherry flavours over a touch of liquorice, cedary tobacco like characters and spice. Very fine grained near velvet like tannins. Aftertaste of blackcurrant, dark cherries and light cedary tobacco qualities. A savoury St Estephe.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc 14%

Other Reviews….
This shows loads of fruit on the nose, with spices, dark chocolate and blackberries. Full body, with soft and silky tannins. Chewy finish. Love the length to this.
