2010 Badger's Brook Cabernet Sauvignon

A top example of Yarra Valley Cabernet.

A blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot that saw maturation in a combination of new and older French and American Oak for a period of 16 months. 2010 was a delightful year for Cabernet in the Yarra Valley as it was a long slow ripening period. Opaque black crimson red colour with dark crimson red hue. Perfumed aromas of ripe blackcurrant and violets are infused with some tobacco like characters followed by some earthy cedar and spice. Medium bodied with an elegant savoury mouthfeel the palate is filled with flavours of blackcurrant, cedar, tobacco, a touch of earth and spice. Very fine grained beautifully integrated tannins. Excellent length with very long savoury aftertaste of blackcurrant, cedary tobacco and spice.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
