A Bunnah' from an oloroso butt, quite unique and very different from the usual gentle style of the distillery. It's described by the bottlers as "an extreme experience" and reminiscent of legendary whiskies from decades ago.

Tasting note: Deep brassy gold. Lots of sherry indeed for a Bunnah', but with a dryish nose feel suggesting iced tea and old parchment, developing richer notes of fruit mince pie, beeswax and dustings of cocoa... some pear fruitiness too. Chewy and fresh in the mouth with a drying sherry-led attack ; gingery warmth builds towards the creamy finish. Not a sherry bomb in the contemporary sense, rather more 'old fashioned' (dry with hints of sulphur) making for an engaging departure from the current house style. 48% Alc./Vol.

Notes from the bottler... From the start, it’s obvious that the Oloroso butt was particularly expressive, with that winey nose full of leather, raisins, coffee, and that unmistakable note of old library with wooden shelves full of antique books. At the palate it’s just as impressive, showcasing a very dry sherry attack, followed by toasted malt, again coffee, and even eggnog! A bold style of sherried malt, of the kind that’s almost impossible to find nowadays, and with a winey intensity that tastes much older than the age statement would suggest.
