A Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend (69%) that also includes portions of Malbec (15%) and Petit Verdot (16%) with 18 months maturation taking place in 100% French oak (62% new and 38% 1-3 year old). An outstanding vintage, the 2009 season produced superbly ripe and balanced fruit.

In the great years, we rank the Heytesbury alongside Moss Wood & Cullen’s Diana Madeline as one of the Southern Hemisphere's most distinguished Cabernets. This is one such vintage and a wine which, relatively speaking, remains the best buy of the high end Margaret River pack. Opaque black dark crimson red colour with deep dark crimson red hue. Perfumed nose with top notes of ripe blackcurrant followed by some mulberry, dusty cedar, a hint of cigar box and spice. An amalgam of richness, power and elegance the palate delivers mouthfilling flavours of perfectly ripened blackcurrant supported by a cedary backbone with flavours of mulberry, cigar box and spice also present. Very fine grained tannins yet sturdy in structure providing ample support for long term cellaring. Superb depth with very long ripe blackcurrant, mulberry, cedar and spice aftertaste. It demands 8-10 years to reveal its full glory (2020-2022)
Alc 14.5%
