The 2009 Tellurian Shiraz is another red dirt stunner from the Cambrian soils on the Western slopes of the Mt Camel Range. “Tellurian” means 'of the earth', and the winemaking is selective and minimalist to preserve the outstanding characters of the vineyard, with hand harvesting of only the best bunches and gentle technique in the winery. This wine was matured for 15 months in French oak of which 50% was new. Totally opaque black dark purple colour with deep dark purple crimson red hue. Showing good intensity the nose displays aromas of blackberry and liquorice along with some meaty characters followed by a light toast overlay and black pepper end notes. Rich mouthfilling palate flavours of blackberry, liquorice and black pepper followed by some meaty characters on the back palate with the pepper and spice persisting right through to the finish. Excellent concentration and structure. Dry, fine grained, but solidly built and perfectly balanced tannin structure. Long, persistent black pepper, blackberry, liquorice and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years plus (2018-2020+).

Deep purple-crimson; an exercise in harmony (plus a degree of opulence) from start to finish, the bouquet with black fruits and tantalising touches of cocoa powder, the supple palate largely absorbing the 15 months in 50% new, predominantly French, oak.
