2009 Katnook Estate Prodigy Shiraz

Preliminary maturation was 13 months in a 50/50 combination of French and American oak barriques of which 75% were new. The wine then underwent a further maturation period of 20 months in both new and previously filled French and American oak barrels. Totally opaque inky black colour with a deep dark red black hue. Intense aromas of ripe blackberries, liquorice and choc mint exude from the glass followed by toasty vanillin oak, mocha and spice. Rich and layered the palate boasts a powerful flavour profile of liquorice, ripe blackberries and dark chocolate followed by some dark plums, vanillin oak, mocha and spice. Round opulent mouthfeel with silky smooth tannins. Exceptionally long ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark plum, chocolatey vanillin oak and spice aftertaste.
