After being wiped out by frost in 2007 (there was no Progeny produced) the Hunter Family have bounced back with a fabulous value for money Heathcote Shiraz. This was in spite of the challenging vintage conditions that the 2008 vintage presented with a lack of rainfall and relentless heatwave during mid to late March. A small percentage of Viognier (approx 3%) has been co-fermented with the Shiraz fruit and the wine was matured for approximately 18 months in French oak of which 10% was new.

An outstanding achievement from what was generally considered a challenging vintage in the district.
Opaque black dark red colour with dark red hue showing excellent colour saturation. Aromas of ripe blackberry, plum and liquorice with a hint of pepper also emerging. The palate boasts excellent weight and concentration with ripe generous flavours of liquorice, confectionary, dark plum and blackberry followed by some persistent black pepper characters on the back palate. Very fine grained well integrated tannins with long aftertaste of liquorice, blackberry and blackpepper.
