Central Otago is New Zealand's highest and the world's Southern-most grapegrowing region located at latitude 45º south (equivalent to the Northern Hemisphere's Willamette Valley in Oregon U.S.A., and the Northern Rhone Valley in France). Pinot Noir, in particular seems ideally suited to the region's peculiar terroir. However, Pinot Gris (believed to be a mutation of Pinot Noir) is also being successfully produced.
Bright pale straw colour with green tinge. Top note of pear, followed by spice, ripe tropical fruit and
lychee. Generous palate flavours of ripe pear, lemon and confectionary. Alsatian like. Very spicy back palate. Long aftertaste of ripe pear
with spiciness persisting.
Cellar 1-2 years (2009-2010)
