This superb blend is a little more forward and fleshier than previous vintages due primarily to the warmer than normal vintage conditions experienced and higher portion of Shiraz used. Sourced from vines aged between 60-80 years old located in the Ebenezer district yields were extremely low at around 1.5 tonnes per acre resulting in fruit of great concentration.

The final blend is comprised of 80% Shiraz and 20% Grenache with the Shiraz component matured for 12 months in 2-3 year old French (80%) & American Oak (20%) and the Grenache fermented and matured in stainless steel tanks in order to maintain the freshness and vitality of the fruit.
Ben Glaetzer does it again.

Opaque dark purple crimson red colour with deep crimson purple hue. The nose displays excellent intensity with lifted aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, liquorice allsorts and confectionary. Full bodied with concentrated joosy mouthfilling flavours of ripe blackberry, plum and liquorice followed by a very spicy back palate. Fine grained soft tannins. Good length with long aftertaste of liquorice, spice and blackpepper.
Drink over the next 2-3 years (2010-2013)
14.5% Alc Other Reviews…. Strong crimson-purple; only Glaetzer would find Barossa Valley grenache of this quality and style, and blend it so synergistically with shiraz; the wine is ready to drink now, but will easily see out a decade or more. Screwcap.
