The 2008 Gibson Reserve Shiraz has been barrel aged in predominately French oak for 32 months along with 10% American oak, of which 40% was new. A small amount of Cabernet (6%) has been included.
The wine displays an opaque black dark crimson red colour with deep dark red black hue. The nose is quite lifted with liquorice allsorts and vanillin confectionary top notes followed by some dark chocolate and mocha spice like characters. Quite sumptuous the palate boasts plenty of richness and a flavour profile at the darker end of the spectrum. Plush texture with mouthfilling flavours of liquorice, dark chocolate, vanillin confectionary and spice. Excellent palate length and concentration. Velvet smooth tannins. Long liquorice, dark chocolate and vanillin spice aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years (2015-2016).
