Matured for 20 months in French oak this excellent example of Frankland River Cabernet displays an opaque black crimson red colour with dark crimson red hue. The nose shows good lift with top notes of tobacco infused blackcurrant followed by some dusty cedar, ripe mulberry and spice. Full bodied the palate shows excellent richness and depth with flavours of ripe blackcurrant and dark mulberry followed by some spice, cedar and cigar box characters on the back palate. Very fine grained, slightly dryish but perfectly balanced tannins. Very long persistent aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, mulberry, spicy cedar and a hint of cigar box.
Cellar 4-5 years (2015-2016).
Majestic is the common name of the ground orchid once reproduced in elegant colour on the label, but no more. At the price, one shouldn’t complain, I suppose. Has excellent regional/terroir typicity with fragrant blackcurrant fruit that comes through strongly on the full-bodied palate, which has absorbed 20 months in new French oak; the tannins are also balanced and integrated.
