This wine is the result of 6 years research and experimenting behind closed doors to produce a young Pinot with all the characteristics of a Grand Cru wine. The process that Alana have discovered and are keeping secret is called 'The Hopper Method'. So far we can’t work out the secret, but suspect some maceration carbonique has been used.

THIS WINE RANKS AS ONE OF THE MOST EXTRAORDINARY PRICE/ QUALITY RATIO NEW ZEALAND PINOTS WE’VE TASTED TO DATE.

Semi translucent crimson mauve colour with mauve hue. Very impressive perfumed nose with violet top note, followed by black cherry and spice with a hint of anise and truffle. The palate has a gamey quality with flavours of earth and truffle over ripe black cherry and plum. Excellent weight and mouthfeel. Perfect balance. Very fine tannins. Excellent power wave. Aftertaste of black cherry, spice and anise which runs into the very long aftertaste.
Cellar 2-3 years (2011-2012)
Alc/Vol: 14.0%
