Named after a set of medieval wooden leg stocks which stand in the town of Woodstock in Oxfordshire, England, 'The Stocks' Shiraz is Woodstock's flagship wine. This single vineyard Shiraz is made from 31 rows of low yielding vines, planted circa 1900 on a sandy north slope of Woodstock Estate.

A superb old vine McLaren Vale Shiraz that displays the balance and poise of a top flight ballerina combined with the power of a heavy weight champion.

Totally opaque black dark red colour with deep black crimson hue. Aromas of dark ripe plum, mocha, vanilla and confectionary delivering good perfumed lift. The palate displays superb concentration and seamless flavour integration – dark plum, blackberry, dark chocolate, mocha and confectionary are all beautifully interwoven. Velvet smooth tannins with very long aftertaste of dark plum, dark chocolate, mocha and spice. A magnificent result for winemakers Ben Glaetzer and Scott Collett.
Cellar 5-6 years.
14.5% Alc Stelvin

Other Reviews.....
This is a selection of the best barrels of shiraz from the century-old vines near the winery; the colour is good, the wine with a great array of spice, dark chocolate, black cherry and blackberry fruit; while only medium-bodied, it has outstanding length bolstered by fine, savoury tannins. Screwcap.
