Woodlands vineyard was established in 1973 by David & Heather Watson on Caves Road in Wilyabrup, and was one of the first five vineyards to be planted in the Margaret River region. Made from a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 16% Malbec the wine was matured for 18 months in French oak of which two thirds were new and the remainder one year old.

Excellent colour – deep crimson purple with crimson mauve hue. Perfumed nose with top notes of cedar, violets, dark cherry and truffle with some cigar box and tobacco end notes – displaying good complexity. Medium weight with flavours of ripe blackcurrant, dark cherry, spice, cedar, mulberry and truffle. Superb depth of flavour displaying great finesse. Super fine tannins – velvet smooth. Very long aftertaste of cassis, mulberry and cedar.
