Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND
$145. 00
Bottle
$1740.00 Dozen
ABV: 46%
We've tasted several rum finished whiskies before (with varying degrees of success). Now Tomatin have released this gem - the whisky has spent its entire nine year maturation in x-Caribbean rum barrels. You might expect it to be overdone, but the balance is impeccable. 6,600 bottles are available world-wide.

Tasting note: Pale straw gold. Vague openings build with scents of buckwheat pancake and the most delicate sprinklings of sugar. Brief air contact suggests chico lollies and hints of maple syrup. Remains subdued in later passes. Something akin to manuka honey drizzled over toasted grains with a middle-weighted, seamlessly integrated profile, a fabulous mouthfeel and a fresh tangy finish; The rum perhaps contributing to the texture more so than overt flavour. In short, this still tastes like whisky as it should. Gentle, buzzing spices carry the aftertaste. A gorgeous marriage of flavours, only slightly let down by the nose. 46% Alc./Vol.
