A stunning Example

The Standish wines are produced by former Torbreck winemaker Dan Standish. Whilst the wines stylistically bare some resemblance to Torbreck’s in terms of concentration and power they are not quite as super ripe and display slightly more structure. Fruit was sourced from the Standish Family vineyard planted in 1912. The Standish wines have been almost exclusively restricted to export markets in the past and only now are we beginning to see them make an appearance on the domestic scene. The Relic is a blend of 96% Shiraz and 4% Viognier and like the Standish Shiraz also displays superb colour saturation.

The Standish wines are amply curvaceous, voluptuous, yet perfectly proportioned beauties (without the plastic surgery).

Opaque black crimson red colour with dark crimson red hue. Exotic, very perfumed nose displaying lifted aromas of ripe dark plum, blackberry and an exotic apricot note followed by some spice end notes. The palate is a luxurious super concentrate delivering opulent super ripe blackberry, black plum and liquorice allsorts flavours followed by a touch of exotic apricot and a spicy back palate. Voluptuously textured with beautifully integrated silky smooth tannins. Very long aftertaste of dark plum, spice, ripe blackberry and a touch of dried apricot.
