Principia's dry grown vineyard is planted to six clones of Pinot Noir, with a variety of trellis and planting systems employed. Founded in 1995 by Darrin Gaffy, a passionate, intelligent, quirky winemaker and vigneron, Gaffy allows terroir to shine through his wines through hand-picking of the vineyard, wild yeast fermentation and vinification without the aid of any pumps or machinery.

A top new release from this tiny estate located in a cool gully atop Red Hill.
Semi translucent crimson mauve colour with crimson mauve hue. Perfumed nose with lifted notes of violets, black cherries, anise and Troncais oak displaying excellent varietal character. The palate displays good weight with mouthfilling flavours of dark cherries, violet infusions and anise followed by some spice and Troncais oak back palate flavours. The wine possesses a superb power wave, a trait so highly sought after by Pinotphiles around the world. Fine grained silky tannins with exceptionally long aftertaste of dark cherry, plum and anise.
