First produced in 1959, Bin 28 is named after the famous Barossa Valley Kalimna vineyard purchased by Penfolds in 1945 and from which the wine was originally sourced. Today it’s a multi regional blend with fruit sourced from a variety of regions including Langhorne Creek, Upper Adelaide, Barossa, McLaren Vale and Limestone Coast. This wine was matured for 12 months in seasoned American oak hogsheads, with 16% matured in large oak-vat formats.

Opaque dark crimson red black colour with dark crimson red hue. The nose delivers aromas of ripe blackberry, dark plum, liquorice allsorts and confectionary. Generous full bodied palate flavours of ripe blackberry, liquorice and confectionary followed by some spice and blackpepper on the back palate. Concentrated but lacking a little in depth. Fine grained well balanced tannins with aftertaste of liquorice, spice and blackpepper.
