Winemakers are keen to acknowledge their ancestry and often name wine after influential relatives. The Gaffer pays tribute to John “The Gaffer” Riggs, the great-great-great grandfather of Ben Riggs and salutes over 150 years of South Australian farming heritage by the Riggs family.

Very deep almost opaque black crimson colour with crimson hue. Lifted nose of spice, liquorice, plum, blackberry and vanilla, showing good varietal lift. The palate reveals dark chocolate flavours, followed by plum, vanilla, blackberry and spice. Distinct varietal character. Fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of liquorice, plum and spice. A soft early drinking red.
Cellar 2-3 years (2010-2011)
Alc/Vol: 15%
