This wine takes its name from infamous Western Australian bushranger, 'Moondyne Joe' who was apprehended at the Houghton winery’s cellars in 1869. He cut a bizarre figure in his carefully-planned outfit of a wheat sack, with barrels tied front and back to collect wine, sheepskin-covered boots to hide his tracks and a set of skeleton keys in a bag around his neck.

Outstanding colour, black purple with black purple hue. Lifted nose of black pepper and violet delivering a perfumed lift. Hints of vanilla as an end note. The palate has impressive weight and mouthfeel, very spicy with flavours of dark chocolate and spice. Fine dryish tannins. Very peppery back palate. Aftertaste of cherry, spice, plum and black pepper.
