This is the first time we’ve seen this blend from Gemtree which had otherwise been restricted to the export markets. The Shiraz (95%) and Viognier (5%) were co-fermented to provide better integration of the two varieties. The wine is open fermented for 10 days then gently pressed into French and American oak for 12 months maturation.

Excellent value.

Deep crimson red purple colour with mauve hue. The aromas are relatively restrained on first sniff but become more pronounced as the wine warms up – dark plum, liquorice and confectionary with some exotic apricot background notes. The palate is full bodied with mouthfilling flavours of blackberry, plum, liquorice allsorts, toast and blackpepper on the finish. Velvet smooth tannins with long blackberry, toast and spicy blackpepper aftertaste.
