2007 Deen De Bortoli Vat 1 Durif

An excellent introduction to winelovers that have not experienced this variety. The wine was matured in a combination of American, French and Hungarian oak for a period of 12 months. Outstanding black purple mauve colour showing good cling to the glass. Full bodied, lifted nose of morello cherry and spice followed by a touch of liquorice. Generous palate flavours of plum and cherry. Fine dry balanced tannins. Very spicy, almost peppery aftertaste.
