2007 Coldstream Hills Reserve Chardonnay

Sourced primarily from Coldstream Hills Briarston vineyard which is planted to five different clones of Chardonnay, this wine was matured in new and used French oak for 10 months.

Straw pale gold colour with pale straw hue. Lifted aromas of toasted bacon fat, biscuit, nougat and cashew followed by some hazelnut and funky match stick characters as end notes. Quite an intense sniff. Very creamy palate texture delivering flavours of roast almond, nougat, bacon fat and biscuit with some hazelnut and cashew back palate flavours. Good acidity. Long nougat, toast and cashew aftertaste. A superb complex Yarra Valley Chardonnay which was recently awarded Champion Wine of Show at the 2009 International Chardonnay Challenge in New Zealand.
Cellar 3-4 years.
