Opaque black glass staining colour with black purple hue delivering outstanding colour saturation. Aromas of dark plum, blackberry, liquorice and confectionary displaying excellent varietal character. Very concentrated dark inky palate with flavours of ink, dark blackberry, dark chocolate and dark plum followed by some spicy meat like characters on the back palate. The tannins are quite firm and dry providing the wine with a leathery mouthfeel, but they’re in balance to the volumes of dark inky fruit. Excellent structure. Very long aftertaste of blackberry, dark plum, spice and blackpepper.
Cellar 8-10 years (2017-2018)
Alc 14.5%

A tightly structured Syrah that has a long life ahead of it

Other Reviews….
In a vintage that seemed to produce lean, structured, sinewy wines, the 2007 Syrah Onkaparinga borders on opulence, a rarity in 2007. Complex aromas of incense, violets, spice box, bacon, blueberry, and blackberry are followed by a medium to full-bodied, dense, sweetly-fruited wine with layers of flavor, excellent density, and well concealed structure. It will improve in the cellar over the next 4-6 years and drink well through 2022
and even longer according to the winery.
