2007 Clarendon Hills Clarendon Grenache
Deep crimson mauve colour with mauve hue. The nose displays a lifted top note of very ripe raspberry followed by some liquorice allsorts, confectionary and a touch of spice. Full bodied and loaded with flavour, displaying a touch more richness than previous vintages. Ripe raspberry, spice and dark cherry followed by some liquorice and black pepper on the back palate. Excellent depth and concentration. Fine grained dryish tannins but in balance. Long aftertaste of ripe raspberry, liquorice allsorts and spice.
Cellar 3-4 years (2012-2013)
14.5% Alc
Other Reviews….
The Grenache offerings begin with the purple-colored 2007 Grenache Clarendon. It offers up an expressive nose of spice box, cassis, and cherry compote. Structured on the palate, it has outstanding depth and concentration, savory flavors, and 2-3 years of aging potential.
