Saturated opaque black purple colour with black purple hue, although not quite as dense as the outstanding 2006. Perfumed aromas of blackberry, violets, liquorice allsorts, confectionary and smoky toasted oak. The palate is a concentrate of flavour delivering ripe blackberry, liquorice allsorts, confectionary and spice overlaid with some smoky cedar and pepper characters on the back palate. Outstanding length and depth of flavour displaying great power and refinement. Fine grained, dryish tannins but in perfect balance. Exceptionally long aftertaste of blackberry, liquorice allsorts and blackpepper.
Cellar 8-10 years plus (2017-2019+)
14.5% Alc

Other Reviews….
Clarendon Hills’ flagship is the 2007 Syrah Astralis. It is an exemplar of what old vines and a great terroir can achieve in a less than great vintage. Aromas of pain grille, pencil lead, tar, underbrush, meat, licorice, and blackberry lead to a burly, masculine version of Astralis. It has tremendous grip, plenty of fine-grained tannin, layers of savory fruit, and 10-12 years of aging potential. Patience will be required.
