As well as owning 44 hectares of vineyards, Chapel Hill also sources fruit from a select group of McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills growers. Michael Fragos continues as winemaker with Rachel Steer, Chapel Hill’s viticulturist and grower liaison manager, regularly visiting and working with the growers to guarantee top quality fruit. Their diligence has paid off with this wine being awarded Gold for Best in its Class for the second time at the 2009 London International Wine and Spirit Competition.

A big, rich McLaren Vale Cabernet.

Outstanding black crimson colour with black crimson hue – totally opaque. Aromas of ripe blackcurrant, cedar, dark plum and dark chocolate, with a hint of tobacco and truffle as an end note – quite a perfumed sniff. This is a big full bodied McLaren Vale Cabernet with flavours at the riper end of the spectrum – dark chocolate, ripe blackcurrant and ripe plum flavours dominate followed by liquorice, cedar and spice back palate flavours. Excellent weight and concentration with beautifully integrated tannin structure. Very long blackcurrant, spice and cedar aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years.
