The 2006 bottling was one of our favourite whiskies of 2015 - a delicious, unpeated, pure expression of the grain. This year's allocation is pitifully small. From barley harvested at Rockside Farm, Islay, in 2006 and distilled in 2007, expect a malt of genuine Islay provenance derived from the "...the sea salt spray lashed fields". Non chill filtered.Other reviews... ...spices litter the palate, as do some harder sugars and softer caramel; a few cocoa, mildly minty notes, though this seems more like the remnant of a new make than cask; clean and chirpy. Great fun! 50% Alc./Vol.
88 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2016 ...Using barley grown on Rockside Farm, this is fresh, sweet (agave syrup), delicate, and lightly buttery, with touches of lily of the valley and lemon sponge cake mix. The cereal character is restrained, with a charred hint on the palate along with banana, mandarin, cassia, and pink marshmallows (untoasted). The Laddie’s floral notes emerge late, and the whiff of white pepper on the end is all there is to remind you of its youth. A classy young whisky.
