2007 Adelphi Glenrothes 9 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

This is the last of the legendary young Glenrothes Sherry hogsheads from Adelphi. Once again allocations are smaller than ever.

Previous editions of Adelphi's Glenrothes have been extraordinary. This year's was drawn from a 1st Fill Sherry Cask. Distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2016, the total outturn was 282 bottles. 67.1% Alc./Vol.

Notes from Adelphi... The nose brings out burnt toffee (the base of a crème caramel), thick treacle and dark molasses with fruit-flavoured balsamic vinegar; then brandy soaked Christmas cake mix, crème de mure, Bovril, warm leather, and the slightest hint of a matchbox striker. The palate is tannic (as you would expect from such active Spanish oak) and viscous; Almost a mirror to its nose, with the addition of salted caramel, mixed nuts and a medley of dark chocolate desserts. Powerful, rich and satisfying. Goodbye old friend – we will be sad to see you go.
