2007 Adelphi Glenrothes 6 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The tastings for the latest batch of Adelphis were limited to 20ml samples - just enough to paint the picture and recommend, but not enough to retaste and confirm our initial impressions. Generally speaking, they represent another first class selection of young and old malts from one of Scotland's top independent bottlers.

An astonishing young whisky.

Tasting notes Almost cloudy pale gold, but with no sediment evident, it exudes penetrating scents of sweet balsamic, caramel and honeycombe. Exposure draws out subtle notes of cocoa and a forgivable trace of rubber which remains in check. Patience rewards with delightful flashes of butterscotch and honeycombe that steal the show on the final inspection. A concentrated, mildly bittersweet profile offers brittle malt infused with stunning vanilla and butterscotch - the rubberiness threatens to overtake but by the finish this is undiminished, concluding caramely, chocolatey, dry and long.
