The 2006 release marks the first vintage that new winemaker Greg Clayfield took over the winemaking reins at Zema. With a wealth of experience, including over 14 years at Wynns Coonawarra Estate and intimate knowledge of the Coonawarra region his expertise is set to raise the bar in terms of quality at Zema Estate and the 2006 Cabernet represents a very impressive start.

A Classy Coonawarra Cabernet offering great value for money.

Maturation took place in small French oak casks for 16 months. Excellent opaque black crimson red colour with black crimson hue. Aromas of ripe blackcurrant, aniseed, cedar and spice. The palate displays good weight and plenty of flavour with ripe blackcurrant and liquorice flavours followed by some cigar box, spice and cedar characters. Fine grained, slightly dry, but balanced tannins with long aftertaste of cedar, blackcurrant and spice.
Cellar 3-4 years.

Other Reviews.....
Attractive medium-bodied wine with effortless cabernet flavours in the blackberry, cassis spectrum; fine, ripe, tannins and controlled oak through the finish.
