A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Shiraz, The Reserve represents the very best twenty barrels of red wine from the cellars of Yalumba and is only made in exceptional vintages. The 2006 vintage was sourced from Shiraz plantings dating back to 1919 and Cabernet Sauvignon planted in 1974. It was matured for 22 months in a combination of French and Hungarian oak of which 47% was new.

Superb depth of colour displaying an inky black core with a very deep dark red black hue. Aromas of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and liquorice arise from the glass followed by subtle dark chocolate and vanillin confectionary. On the palate the structure of the Cabernet combines with the richness of Shiraz magnificently delivering beautiful velvety textured fruit flavours of ripe blackcurrants over blackberry and liquorice with a background of spicy cedar, subtle black olive and cigar box. Solidly built but fine grained tannins provide an excellent framework. Outstanding depth with a very long aftertaste of blackcurrant, liquorice, spicy cedar, subtle cigar box and black olive.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 13.5%
