2006 Yalumba FDR1A Cabernet Shiraz

Aged for 13 months in French and Hungarian oak the wine displays an opaque black dark crimson red colour with very deep dark crimson red black hue. The nose delivers a perfumed violet top note followed by blackcurrant, liquorice, mint, cedar and spice – a delightful sniff. The palate displays a rare combination of refinement and power delivering flavours of blackcurrant, liquorice and mint with a spicy cedar overlay followed by a hint of cigar box as an end note. Fine grained but firm tannins provide the wine with excellent structure. Very long aftertaste of blackcurrant, spicy cedar and cigar box. A magnificent blend.
