Jo Pittendrigh and her partner Marshall Caffyn are a couple of self proclaimed ‘dags’ who stumbled upon the wine industry on a romantic whim. The Winbirra vineyard at Red Hill site was purchased in the 1960’s as a holiday retreat, which produced apples, strawberries, potatoes and finally Pinot Noir. The Pinot Gris is grown on a ‘perfect vineyard site’ in Merricks, with the first vintage in 2005 being an instant success.
Bright straw colour with pale straw hue. Top note of ripe pear, spice and ripe apricot. Mouthfilling palate, very spicy with flavours of ripe pear and light tropical fruit. The nose delivers an impressive flavour profile with again, ripe pear and ripe apricot flavours dominant. Very much inspired by the Alsatian style. Clean finish
Cellar 2-3 years (2009-2010)
