Zinfandel has been regarded as a mystery grape of uncertain origin. Recent DNA profiling by UC Davis in California and in Croatia has identified Zinfandel as a clone of the Croatian grape variety Crijenak. In Italy, Zinfandel is known as Primitivo.

A magnificent example of Zinfandel!

Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue, showing strong cling to the walls of the glass. The nose is very ripe with strong black pepper, plum and spice notes, followed by liquorice end note. Mouthfilling palate, very spicy flavours of black cherry, confectionary and spice with vanilla back palate, delivering an almost ‘lolly’ like flavour. Very fine tannins. Aftertaste of spice with black and white pepper.
Cellar 3-4 years (2010-2011)
Alc/Vol: 15.5%
