Tuscany, ITALY
$32. 99
Bottle
$395.88 Dozen
Cellar: 3 - 4 Years (2012-2013)
ABV: 14%
Closure: Cork

Made from a blend of 52% Sangiovese, 36% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon – the Cabernet component gives the wine some additional structure whilst the Merlot gives the wine a fleshier mouthfeel. The varietals were vinified separately in small stainless steel tanks. The wines were then aged for10 months in 2-4 year-old French oak barrels that had previously been used for the flagship Masseto and Ornellaia wines.

A well made, elegantly styled Italian red with plenty of flavour.

Deep crimson red colour with mauve hue. Aromas of dark cherries, mulberry, spice with a hint of cedar and new leather – quite perfumed. Medium to full bodied palate displaying ripe spicy dark cherry and new leather flavours. Very savoury. Soft but fine grained dry tannins with aftertaste of dark cherry and spice with a touch of new leather.
Cellar 3-4 years. (2012-2013)
Alc/Vol: 14%.

Other Reviews…
The 2006 Le Volte is especially generous in this vintage. This plump, juicy wine bursts from the glass with an array of super ripe dark plums, cherries, smoke and licorice. It is an engaging, rewarding wine to enjoy over the next few years. Le Volte is made from Sangiovese which is purchased from outside producers plus Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on the property.
Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011.
