2006 Te Mata Estate Awatea Cabernet Merlot

An elegant wine. Medium body, crimson colour with crimson hue. Perfumed nose of blackcurrant and violets. The palate delivers the sort of refinement that one experiences from classed growth Bordeaux, although having said that the wine could be compared with third or fourth class Bordeaux. Delicate flavours of blackcurrant and light truffle overtones. Fine slightly chalky but balanced tannins. Long aftertaste of cedar and blackcurrant.
