2006 Sutton Grange Winery Estate Syrah

Fantastic opaque black dark red colour with dark red hue. Lifted aromas of new leather, ripe plum and blackberry followed by a liquorice end note. The palate is quite tight displaying inky flavours of blackberry, spice and plum with leathery very dry firm tannins that tend to overwhelm the fruit resulting in somewhat of a clipped finish. Moderate leather and spice aftertaste. A leathery tannic red that may never come into balance.
Cellar 4-5 years in the hope that the tannins will soften (2014-2015)
