Look at the deep colour on this teenage Linkwood! Seven months in a fresh x sherry cask has really made an impact. Normally the reserve of x Bourbon casks where Linkwood's juicy fruit character shines, this distillate handles sherry just as well. Bottled at 58.4% abv as part of the Signatory Vintage Cask Strength Collection, expect notes of "fresh fudgy chocolate cakes with crunchy malt, dried cranberries and cherries, figs, cinnamon, nutmeg, plums, dark oak, vanilla, peanuts, molasses and coffee." 702 bottles produced. 58.4% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Built on the outskirts of Elgin in 1821 by Peter Brown, Linkwood takes its name from the nearby Brown family home, 'Linkwood house'. James Walker & Co. ran the distillery from 1842 until 1868 when Peter Brown died and his son, William, succeeded him. In 1872 William completely rebuilt the distillery. By 1932 it had fallen under the ownership of SMD and subsequently Diageo. When it was rebuilt in 1962, great care was taken so that the new stills were exact replicas of the existing ones. The old side of the distillery was mothballed in 1985, however it was reopened in 1990 and continues to operate for a few months each year. Legendary whisky writer, Michael Jackson noted that the spirit from the older of the two sides produces a slightly heavier spirit than the new side!
