Sanguine Estate was established in 1997 by Tony Hunter and his family. Initially 16 acres were planted however by 2002, it had been expanded to 55 acres. 50 acres is planted to Shiraz with the remaining 5 acres planted to 8 different varieties of red and white grapes. A new winery was commissioned a couple of years ago with a crush capacity of 100 tonnes. The 2006 growing season started with good winter rains and was followed by above average spring rains. A warm hot summer was followed by a cool March and April which extended the ripening period allowing the grapes to develop a classic Heathcote concentrated flavour profile
