This flagship wine of Kilikanoon started off as a single vineyard wine from the famed 'Mort’s Block' Clare Valley vineyard back in 1998. Since then it has been widely acclaimed by wine critics and wine lovers around the globe. Sourced from low yielding 40 year old vines, the wine was fermented in open topped fermenters, basket pressed into new and one year old French oak hogsheads and matured for 24 months.
Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue with inky film on the glass wall. Top note of toasted oak, followed by dark chocolate and mocha followed by liquorice, spice and ripe blackberry. The palate delivers flavours of liquorice, black pepper, plum and spice. Velvet tannin structure. Very long aftertaste of plum, liquorice, toasted oak and spice with long lingering spicy aftertaste.
