"...a heck of a wine that sells for a song...
An estate of 50 acres in Rasteau that merits serious attention , recent vintages have all been stunning, & a lot of that is due to the brilliant work of well known Southern Rhone consultant Philippe Cambie."

- Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate # 178, Aug 2008

The first hectare of vines was planted on the Domaine Grand Nicolet property in 1875. The winery was established in 1926 and further plantings of Grenache and Carignan were made, replacing cereal crops. The present owner, Jean Pierre Bertrand purchased the Estate in 1999 which has now expanded to 20 hectares (50 acres) of vines.

Very deep, almost opaque black crimson purple colour with purple hue. The nose displays aromas of black cherries, raspberry, liquorice and spice showing good varietal character. Full bodied palate with flavours of spice and liquorice with a hint of earthiness emerging. Fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of raspberry, liquorice and spice.
